Athletic future. KD Willis, Founder and CEO, was born, raised, and educated in the community that has produced the most NFL Players in the Country and is home of over a dozen NCAA collegiate student-athletes, Belle Glade, Florida. She is a proud ambassador of her community and of athletics around the Glades. Holding the titles of Wife, Mother, Mentor and former Athletic Director, KD has committed her life to enhancing the lives of young men and women through the scope of Athletics. Having a successful and an extensive background around High School and Collegiate Athletics, with a bachelors degree in Sports Management and a masters degree in High Education Administration, KD is often called on by parents of both high school and collegiate athletes, as well as high school administrators and coaches to help them understand academic standings, NCAA compliance and intercollegiate recruitment. She has discovered a disconnect present in the academic and athletic transition of high school student-athletes and their matriculation into collegiate athletics. Research has shown these factors are stressors and barriers for student-athletes that result in mental health illnesses and concerns.

“The transition from high school to college is a fragile period. The moment after a student-athlete waves goodbye to loved ones on that first day, he or she will face pressure to acclimate athletically, academically, and socially” (Maldonado, 2014).
It is through #WORK21 that she will bridge the gap and decrease the stigmas that follow student-athletes, not only in the Glades region but throughout the entire state of Florida. Although, no longer working in the School District setting or holding the title of Athletic Director, KD has accepted the fact that she will forever be who the community refers to as “ADKD” and because of this fact, she birthed the vision #WORK21.
